This isn’t even close to news but I’m “reporting” it anyway. USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil said during his Thursday combine press conference that he will be sitting down with the Vikings on Friday as part of the regular interview process. Kalil confirmed that – cue the dramatic music – he will be meeting with the St. Louis Rams as well.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have draft suspense.
Well not exactly. Because we sort of suspected all along that Kalil was in the mix for the Rams. And even if he’s not in the mix they don’t want to tip their hand. Anyway, Kalil is at the combine. He said he weighs 308 which is more than he weighed his last year at USC. Rick Spielman and company will have their sit-down with the young man on Friday. I can already tell you what Spielman will say after the interview. “Kalil is very impressive. He has terrific talent. He’s a fine young man. He’d be a great addition to our team but we’re keeping our options open. Smoke screen smoke screen tap dance tap dance blah blah blah.”
Be sure to come back for more great combine coverage from The Viking Age. I promise it won’t all be as snarky as the above.
