Vikings Bring Back Sage Rosenfels

The Vikings have lots of roster needs, but #3 quarterback isn’t one of them. Alex Marvez reports that the Vikes have agreed to terms on a new deal with Sage Rosenfels, back-up QB and mentor extraordinaire. Details of the contract are not available but I’m guessing the money is considerably less than what Peyton Manning is about to get.

Who knows if Sage would’ve gotten any offers had he hit the market. Maybe after years of bouncing around he just decided he wants to finish out his career in a place where he knows his role and is valued. The Vikings obviously appreciate the work Sage put in helping Christian Ponder and Joe Webb last year. Sage’s chance of moving up the depth chart is pretty minuscule, but it’s probably not about that for him. At least the Vikes know they have one veteran option on the roster in the event things go very wrong with their two younger guys.
