Family Matter Tears Chad Greenway Away from OTAs

Chad Greenway was forced to miss day two of Vikings voluntary OTAs after a worsening family matter called him away, coach Leslie Frazier explained after Wednesday’s session. “Chad is a loyal guy. He wants to be here. But he’s dealing with a serious matter,” Frazier said.

Also absent for various reasons were Jared Allen, Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin and UDFA running back Derrick Coleman. Greg Childs, who has been hampered by a calf strain ever since minicamp, was present but didn’t participate. When asked about Harvin’s absence Frazier only said, “It’s a voluntary camp.” And on Wednesday, Harvin had other places to be.

Among the guys who were present and accounted for, Jerome Simpson generated the most buzz with a highlight reel catch over Chris Cook. Mistral Raymond and Stephen Burton also reportedly acquitted themselves well.
