Brett Favre Takes Job as Offensive Coordinator Of High School Team

I think we all knew Brett Favre would eventually get back into football in some capacity and a lot of us probably suspected it would be on the coaching level. But offensive coordinator of a high school team? Not sure I would’ve guessed that. But according to Bus Cook it’s true. Favre has agreed to take a job with Oak Grove H.S. in Hattiesburg as an assistant coach. The Biloxi Sun-Herald says Favre will specifically be taking on the role of offensive coordinator. Can you say “pass-first offense?”

Somewhat surprising. Then again, Favre has made statements in the past expressing his enjoyment of coaching youngsters. And maybe at this point he’s not ready for the responsibility of being a full-on head coach even at the high school level (I’m assuming the stress of that job is less than, say, head coach at Alabama).

That said, if I’m Oak Grove head coach Nevil Barr? I’m not getting too comfortable in my job. One bad season at Oak Grove and there could be a change of power. Favre is pretty crafty when it comes to playing situations to his advantage. I’m sure he’s already gotten cozy with the school board there at Oak Grove. Watch your back Nevil Barr, is all I’m saying. Or it will be head coach Brett Favre faster than you can say “Old Gunslinger.”
