Some fans have been worried about rookies Matt Kalil and Josh Robinson having their contracts done in time for camp. According to Rick Spielman there’s nothing to worry about. Jeremy Fowler tweets: “Per Spielman, team ‘working through’ Kalil contract, doesn’t anticipate Kalil or third rounder Josh Robinson missing camp time.”
So there you go. Both contracts should be done in time for the players to get on the practice field. Players report on Thursday and the first practices are on Friday so there’s that extra day to get everything finalized. I don’t know what the hang-up is with Robinson but with Kalil the issue has reportedly been offset language. Most high draft picks this year have been signed without that provision being added to their contracts, but the Vikings have always as a matter of organizational philosophy included offset language. Seems they’ll have to back off on that if they want Kalil in camp on time.
