The Turk was on the prowl today all over the NFL. Some of the bigger names sent packing included Deion Branch, Josh McCown, Seneca Wallace, Dan Koppen, Brian Hoyer (Bill Belichick was busy), Joselio Hanson, Vernon Gholston and Tim Hightower. As of 3 CT, the Vikings hadn’t announced a single cut nor had any cuts leaked via Twitter or agents tipping sources or anything. The only information out there involved DeMarcus Love who became an IR candidate after aggravating a shoulder injury in the final preseason game.
That all changed at about 4 when the first leaked move arrived via Twitter. Tom Pelissero reported that the Vikes would cut DE Jeff Charleston. That’s where we are now. Let’s track all the cuts here:
DE Jeff Charleston
DT Trevor Guyton. First 2012 draft pick to be cut. Likely to be brought back on the practice squad.
OG Chris DeGeare. Practice squad for him again, probably.
QB Sage Rosenfels First semi-shocker. Looks like McLeod Bethel-Thompson will stick. Vikes are clearly intrigued by his talent. Joe Webb also gets to stay.
RB Jordan Todman. Matt Asiata completes his rise from afterthought to #3 running back.
CB Bobby Felder
CB Reggie Jones
DT Chase Baker
LB Corey Paredes
OL Tyler Holmes
OL Austin Pasztor
CB Chris Carr
S Eric Frampton
C Quentin Saulsberry
IR DeMarcus Love
Suspended Jerome Simpson
