Many people scoffed when Rick Spielman drafted Blair Walsh in the sixth round this year. But they’re not scoffing now. Walsh has vindicated Spielman by putting up a brilliant 2012 season. His accuracy has been amazing. And he’s been booting deep ones at a record pace. I mean that literally about the record pace. In the first half on Sunday against the Houston Texans, Walsh became the all-time single-season record-holder in 50+ yard field goals. Walsh drilled a 56-yarder, his ninth 50-plus-yard kick of the year. That kick also tied Paul Edinger for the longest field goal in Vikings history.
Did I mention that Walsh is a perfect nine-for-nine in 50+ yard field goals this year? Bet the Packers wish they had this guy right about now. Sorry Packer fans, had to do it. Mason Crosby, what a disaster.
