Did Adrian Peterson even know how close he was to breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record at the end of today’s season finale against the Packers? Apparently not. After the game, Peterson spoke to Fox reporter Pam Oliver. Pam mentioned that he had fallen 9 yards short and Adrian didn’t seem to know what she was talking about. She explained to him what she meant and his only response was to say “Thank God.”

Yes Adrian. Thank God for the brilliant season you gave Viking fans. Thank God for your 2,097 yards. And especially that last run that set up Blair Walsh’s game-winning field goal. Hopefully there will be more yards to come. In Lambeau Field next week. Of course those yards won’t count toward the record but who cares right now? The Vikings won, and will get at least one more game. And it will be against the Packers.

This crazy season just got crazier. And better. And still has a chance to be epic. Adrian will be ready.
