Report: Vikings Now “Much Closer” to Starting Joe Webb

This Christian Ponder stuff just went from interesting to scary. On the heels of a Jay Glazer report suggesting Ponder’s status for tonight’s game is at least up in the air, now we have a Dan Wiederer tweet that flat out says the Vikings are moving toward starting Joe Webb at QB.

Have been told it is “looking more likely” Joe Webb will start tonight. Still no final word. But Vikings much closer to Plan B.

That’s Wiederer’s tweet. As he said, there is still no final word. Reports are that the Vikes will have both Ponder and Webb throw before the game. If Ponder’s bursitis-ridden elbow looks too bad, Webb may get the start.

Some are suggesting this is all part of a big master plan meant to keep the Packers guessing. But don’t bet on that. These reports are coming from well-connected insiders. Unless these guys are carrying water for the team, this is all legit. The chances of Ponder starting seem to be dwindling with each passing moment.

We are on the verge of a Joe Webb playoff start. And the apocalypse may be upon us.
