This is total garbage. Ponder couldn't use his arm. If he HAD tried to play, he would have been a liability, not an asset. These are grown men in that locker room, and they presumably understand what it means to be injured. If I were a Minnesota Viking, I'd want to play with the QB that gave me the best shot at winning, not a QB who couldn't raise his arm to throw. A healthy Joe Webb was presumably the better of the two options, at least when making a game-time decision. Also, if Ponder has to "show leadership" by trying to play through an injury of this type (which was impossible, given the nature of the injury), then the team has some serious problems with maturity. The solution to all this: find a better backup QB for next season. We had one in Sage Rosenfels, but Spielman let him go. Bad move, and he knows it now. Do better next season, Vikes.
