As I have said before, in this pass happy league, and the less than stellar performance of the Viking secondary, I really think that area should be addressed first. I guess I could be wrong, considering our needs on the defensive line, offensive line, linebacking corps and wide receivers. The draft and FA are indeed complicated and hard processes, and the GM's
and coaches have big shoes to fill. Fans expect big things from them, and they are under tremendous pressure to produce results. Perhaps wide receiver is the direction to go first. The consensus seems to think so. IMO, defense wins ball games, and Minnesota needs a more powerful pass rush to get pressure on the QB, and an elite group of cornerbacks and safeties to stop aerial arsenals like the Packers, Lions, and yes, even Cutler and the Bears. Those are six games that should be priority each season. Take a look at the Viking's schedule for 2013. They are going to have to put up one hell of a defensive effort to win some of those games.Minnesota is a young team, and I think they have a long, long way to go before they can make a serious run at the Super Bowl. I really don't like saying that, but there are just too many holes to fill first, and I sincerely believe that begins with vastly improving the defense.
