The Donald Driver rumors are dead before they even had a chance to get going. Driver himself ended the speculation Thursday by retiring from the NFL. Driver goes out with 10,137 yards on 743 catches including 61 TDs. Not bad for a guy taken in the seventh round. Talk about maximizing talent. This guy worked like almost no one else. He made himself into a Pro Bowl receiver. It’s too bad everyone doesn’t have those kind of work habits.
Driver’s retirement is really not unexpected. He basically did nothing with the Packers last year and was a long-shot to make a roster in 2013. I know this will disappoint a few Viking fans who for some reason had their hearts set on Driver becoming a member of the Purple. I personally don’t understand why they ever wanted him. Don’t they know he was washed-up? I guess everyone doesn’t pay very close attention.
Don’t be too upset would-be Viking fan Driver bobos. There will always be another over-the-hill receiver out there for you to pine for. Chad Johnson anyone? Terrell Owens? Randy Moss?
