Former Edmonton Eskimos cornerback Rod Williams has signed with the Vikings. Williams had 111 tackles and 11 interceptions in three years with Edmonton of the CFL. Which of course means nothing in NFL terms.
How excited was Williams about making the leap from the CFL to real football? Very excited, as you can tell by this tweet.
I’m sure they’ll get that whole spelling thing straightened out. It’s a tough word to spell if you’re not familiar with it. Or maybe that’s just how they spell “Vikings” in Canada. How do I know? It’s Canada. The Vikes of course have made a habit of plucking talent from the CFL. In recent years they also signed WR Emmanuel Arceneaux and LB Solomon Elimimian. Although neither of those guys actually caught on with the Vikes. Will Williams buck the trend by sticking around? We’ll see when he hits camp. The Vikes will go into 2013 with Chris Cook, Antoine Winfield, Josh Robinson and A.J. Jefferson as their top 4 corners unless something changes.
