Vikings Unveil New “Enhanced” Norseman Logo

There have been rumors for awhile now that the Vikings would be tweaking their logo and uniforms for the 2013 season. On Thursday we got our first look at some of the changes to the logo. Season ticket holders got the first glimpse, and now the rest of us peasants get to see it too thanks to Vikings.com. And here it is, the new logo. Um, the new one is on the right in case you’re wondering:

Vikings.com refers to the enhancements as “subtle.” That would be the right word. The new logo is a little bolder and sharper. Note how the shadow of the cheek no longer connects to the mustache. Note the different shading on the horns. Note…

Oh screw, it’s the same damn logo. Basically.

According to Vikings.com, we’ll see both versions of the logo during the “transition period.” Logos have transition periods now?

And here’s a little teaser about future changes. “We are looking forward to many exciting changes for our team and fans in the next few years, leading up to the opening of our new stadium.  These logo enhancements are just the beginning…”

Dun-dun-duuuunnnnn.

Look forward to those big uniform tweaks.
