Cornerbacks are blowing up at the combine. Desmond Trufant put up great 40 times. Another guy turning heads is Xavier Rhodes of Florida State. Rhodes measured in at 6-1 1/2, 210 – good size for a corner. He ran a 4.41 40 and posted a 40.5 in the vertical. Clearly this guy is a terrific athlete.

The mock draft was all over Rhodes a day before his impressive combine work. Josh Sanchez said:

Rhodes is a very big and physical corner that would fit in well with the Vikings secondary. In a division with the Packers, Bears and Lions passing attacks, the Vikings would benefit from adding one of this year’s top cornerbacks.

Again you have to ask, would it be wise for the Vikings to go corner with all their other needs? Maybe not. But with so many good corners out there, you have to believe Rick Spielman will be tempted to put need aside and go for value. And besides you can never have enough good corners. Especially ones who can run.
