Vikings Have Interest In Steve Breaston

There are a lot of big name receivers on the free agent market this year including Greg Jennings, Mike Wallace and Dwayne Bowe (if the Chiefs don’t franchise tag him). And then there are the other guys who don’t exactly inspire a ton of fan excitement. Count Steve Breaston in the second group.

Second-level free agent the fans don’t really want? Sounds like a Rick Spielman target. And rumor is that the Vikings are indeed interested in Breaston.

Multiple teams are showing interest in Breaston right now. That group includes the Steelers, Lions and Cowboys. The Browns had him in for a visit but reportedly are not interested.

To say Breaston had a weird 2012 would be understating things. He was supposed to be a major factor for the Chiefs but wound up barely playing. There is some lingering mystery over why Romeo Crennel would bench a good player like Breaston. Somehow the guy wound up in Romeo’s doghouse.

So the thinking here is that the guy might have value he hasn’t shown yet. He was a #3 in Arizona. Then in Kansas City he was frozen out. He won’t be expensive and he’s not super-old. And there might be untapped potential there.

Like I said, perfect Spielman target.
