People seem to enjoy following the contest to determine which football hero will grace the cover of the new Madden video game. This year Viking fans have a favorite player in the running. Adrian Peterson has been torching the competition all the way through the tournament and now finds himself in the semifinals where he will be pitted against Arian Foster of the Texans. The other side of the bracket has Barry Sanders facing off against Jerry Rice.

Yes, old time players are in the running. It’s this “old school” vs. “new school” thing. My advice? Vote for the old school guy. Nothing against Adrian or Arian. Love them both. But you have to look at this thing in terms of curses. Do you want either AD or Foster getting taken down by a freak injury as a result of the well-known Madden cover jinx? No. But Rice or Sanders…nothing personal but who cares if anything happens to them? They are both retired. Rice tears an ACL, it ruins his golf game. It doesn’t take him out of the league cause he’s already out.

Vote here. And keep Adrian Peterson off the cover.

Come on man, where talking about Adrian Peterson here. If anybody is going to break that curse, its him. Besides…having the Detroit Lions grace the cover for another season makes more sense. Barry Sanders’ former team mostly flops every year any way.

Did Calvin Johnson grace the cover last year? He did alright…
