A person familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press that the Minnesota Vikings and defensive end Lawrence Jackson have agreed to a one-year contract.
The Vikings were known to be keeping in touch with Jackson after his workout last week. While the Vikings have a strong starting front four, their best four to five defensive linemen are all entering the final year of their contracts.

Seattle drafted the former USC standout 28th overall in 2008 and he started 24 games for the Seahawks over his first two seasons in the league. The Seahawks traded Jackson to Detroit in 2010 and he had 13 sacks in 37 games for the Lions. He had a career-high six sacks in 2010.
