Vikings Lock Up Three More Draft Picks. First Rounders Still Wait.

The Vikings are two-thirds of the way through the process of signing their draft picks. On Wednesday they made it official with three more. Punter Jeff Locke and offensive linemen Jeff Baca and Travis Bond are now signed, sealed and delivered. They’re ready to lock and load. As they say.

The newly signed draft picks join Gerald Hodges, Michael Mauti and Everett Dawkins who were inked on Tuesday. This leaves only the Vikings’ trio of first rounders – Sharrif Floyd, Xavier Rhodes and Cordarrelle Patterson – unsigned.

Those deals will certainly get done in the coming days. Once those formalities are completed, we can begin looking forward to training camp. The hot weather in the Twin Cities must have the fans feeling it. Mankato approaches. Tom Pelissero is limbering up his tweeting fingers. Which middling wide receiver will Sid Hartman build a bandwagon for this year? Who will become a camp legend? Who will be a camp bust?

How long will it take them to realize Erin Henderson can’t play middle linebacker?
