Tonight the Vikings take their first preseason trip away from Minnesota, venturing to Buffalo to take on the Bills. Kickoff is set for 6 PM Central time. The game will be carried locally on KARE 11. KFAN 1300 FM will have the radio call. The game will be available online at NFL.com preseason live.

Viking fans can expect to see more of the starting unit in this game, including quarterback Christian Ponder, who got only one series in last Friday’s game against Houston. At last we will get an extended look at Ponder working his his revamped receiver corps, which features rookie sensation Cordarrelle Patterson.

Mr. Patterson hopes to build on a solid outing in preseason game one. Another man to watch is Stephen Burton, who opened eyes in the first preseason game and is looking to lock down a roster spot. Receiver Joe Webb finds himself on the bubble and hopes to get more action against Buffalo.

Defensively, all eyes will be on Desmond Bishop who according to Leslie Frazier is playing for his job. Tonight’s game will also give us our first look at rookie cornerback Xavier Rhodes who was held out of the opener with a bad hammy.

Another area of concern for the Vikings is the offensive line. Depth has become an issue for the O-line after a poor showing by the second and third units against Houston. Both tackle and guard are big question marks as we head toward the regular season opener.
