Former Vikings punter/holder Chris Kluwe is has been looking for a job ever since losing the punting competition in Oakland to Marquette King. It just so happens that Kluwe worked out with the Chicago Bears on Tuesday in an effort to bring competition for their current disappointing punter, Adam Podlesh. Podlesh is currently the lowest ranked punter on Pro Football Focus.
The Bears also brought in a couple other punters to compete for the job but if Chicago decides to pick up Kluwe, there are a couple interesting things that could come of it. First off, Kluwe absolutely hated punting to Bears return man Devin Hester. Now, he’d only have to do that in practice. Secondly, he’d get to face the team that released him at least twice a year.
The Vikings released Kluwe this offseason after drafting Jeff Locke in the fifth round (#155 overall) this year. Kluwe still has a huge following of fans in Minnesota because of his political activism, gamer lifestyle, and love for social media.
