There will be a change in the Vikings’ defensive backfield Monday night…but not the change fans have been hoping for. Sorry guys but Josh Robinson is not being benched in favor of someone who might do a better job covering, Marcus Sherels for example or Antoine Winfield, or a random inanimate object.

The Vikings will however have an extra non-Robinson option if he starts getting lit up and Leslie Frazier decides to yank him. The Vikes will reportedly have newly-signed cornerback Jacob Lacey suited up for the Giants, with injured A.J. Jefferson listed as out.

Lacey you recall was competing with Robinson, Marcus Sherels and Bobby Felder for the slot corner position in training camp until he suffered a knee injury and was ultimately cut. Felder himself was finally placed on IR and Robinson was given the slot job over Sherels, who remained on the team as a punt returner.

Robinson has gone on to perform at a level that can only be described as disturbingly horrible, both outside in the base defense and inside in the nickel. But Leslie Frazier insists on sticking by Robinson who evidently practices a lot better than he plays. Kind of like Tarvaris Jackson.

Lacey was re-signed by the Vikings this week after Harrison Smith was placed on IR with turf toe. It’s unlikely he’ll see any action outside of special teams, but you never know. Maybe Frazier will finally get sick of Josh Robinson and throw Lacey in there out of anger.

Does Leslie even know how to get angry?
