It was an ugly ugly game between the Vikings and Giants, but there were a couple memorable plays along the way, the most memorable being Jared Allen’s one-handed reach-around sack of Eli Manning. Jared had a great game overall in leading a motivated Vikings defense, but it wasn’t enough to stop New York with the Vikings’ special teams coughing up the ball and giving the Giants easy scoring chances.
Allen’s sack was remarkable in many ways. That a guy would even have the presence of mind to reach around and grab the QB is amazing, but that he would have enough strength to hold his ground against the blocker and grab Manning’s jersey and pull him down, well that’s just a wow play by Jared Allen. This coming off a game against Carolina where Jared more-or-less disappeared.
Good bounce back by Jared, and overall a solid effort by the defensive line. Now if we could just teach Chris Cook and Xavier Rhodes how to cover. And get some better play out of our linebackers. Well you can’t have everything I guess.
