We’ve got a full-on NFL insider smackdown going on right now over these Jared Allen rumors. About an hour ago ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Seattle was making an “11th hour push” to acquire Jared from the Vikings. Schefter’s teammate Chris Mortensen chimed in by saying the Vikes were looking to score a second rounder from Seattle but would settle for a conditional third.

“Not so fast ESPN insiders,” says Jay Glazer. The Bald Eagle – yes that’s my nickname for Glazer, what of it? – reports that Seattle is in fact NOT talking to the Vikings about Jared Allen. Glazer says two teams have inquired about the defensive end but not, repeat NOT, Seattle.

So how will this all resolve itself? I’m still putting my non-existent money on Allen being a Viking after the trade deadline passes. Trades just don’t happen in the NFL and this one is especially complicated given the money stuff that must be figured out. It would make sense for the Vikings to trade Allen, given that he is certainly leaving in free agency, but actually making that happen? That’s another story.
