Today, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier named Christian Ponder the starting quarterback for the week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Earlier in the week, Frazier had stated that the job was either going to Ponder or Josh Freeman. There was speculation and intrigue surrounding the decision since there were reports from different sources stating different quarterbacks would get the start. There are several factors that led to the start from Ponder, including health, experience, and familiarity.
Ponder gets another opportunity to try to show the team that he can be the man for the team going forward. Ponder seems to be like a cat, having nine lives that he is quickly running out of. It will be interesting to see if he can make the most of this chance in front of his hometown crowd in Dallas, Texas.
