People laugh when you whip out that cliche about one guy wanting it more than another guy. Well sometimes that cliche is true. Adrian Peterson wanted this touchdown more than the Cowboys wanted to tackle him. Peterson was not going to be denied on this one.
You watch a thing like this and realize what a true competitor Adrian is. And it just makes you feel sad when you realize that the team is now 1-7 and Adrian is putting himself out there for a lost cause. It’s not in his nature to give up and that’s cool but the effort is still ultimately futile and that’s not cool.
How many more years of Adrian do we have left before his body becomes broken down? The Vikings need to get this thing figured out. If that means cleaning house, it means cleaning house. Whatever needs to be done, Rick Spielman has to do it. But of course he already knows this. He’s already figuring out whose heads to lop off of the offseason. He’s already made his list.
What’s left to cheer for in 2013? Adrian Peterson. That’s about it. Runs like this remind us that we are watching greatness on a weekly basis. Wasted greatness.
