Christian Ponder's Hail Mary Pass Comes Up Short (Video)

The Vikings battled all day long but came up just short against the Cowboys. How short? About as short as this Christian Ponder Hail Mary pass toward the end zone on the final play of the game. He just. Can’t. Quite. Get it there…

And that right there is the image that will stick with a lot of people when they remember Christian Ponder. That and the incompletion he threw toward Percy Harvin in the Seattle game last year. Rightly or wrong, that is the legacy of Ponder. Not the good plays he’s made. Not the times he’s gotten the job done.

Is this fair? Probably not. But if great QBs can have their careers boiled down to a few iconic moments, so failed QBs can have their careers boiled down too. And the way things are going, Ponder might end up being the starter through the end of the season regardless. It seems that right now the Vikings just don’t trust Josh Freeman.

What a mess this season has become. But at least we can still laugh at ourselves, right?
