Recently, the Vikings defense has suffered the blows of multiple injuries that have decimated their depth chart. Sadly, that trend is starting to continue to the offensive side of the ball. Not only did the Vikings lose right tackle Phil Loadholt to a concussion against the Dallas Cowboys, but tight end Kyle Rudolph suffered a fractured foot on a touchdown play in that same game.
Head coach Leslie Frazier said that Rudolph could miss “as much as a month” with the foot injury. Rudolph has accumulated 313 receiving yards and three touchdowns so far this season. Minnesota will have to hope that his backup, former Seattle Seahawk John Carlson, will be able to step up in his place and be productive.
Christian Ponder loves using his tight ends in the pass game, so look for him to target Carlson in the weeks to come.
