The Vikings have already named Christian Ponder the starter for the game on Thursday Night Football against the Washington Redskins.
Ponder was decent against the Cowboys last week. He showed more comfort in the pocket and took his time to go through reads before tucking the ball and running. Head coach Leslie Frazier feels that he has earned the start based on his play in that game.
“I don’t see why we would make a change,” said Frazier.
But this also means that the two expensive free agent quarterbacks that the team brought in will be sitting on the bench. Josh Freeman hasn’t played since he was thrown to the wolves against the New York Giants. And the only Minnesota Vikings quarterback to have a win this year, Matt Cassel, hasn’t seen action since week 5 in a blowout loss to the Carolina Panthers in week 5.
Given the fact that there is such a small amount of time between Sunday’s game and the upcoming game on Thursday, a switch wouldn’t make much sense.
