Adrian Peterson is the face of the Minnesota Vikings.  Whenever anyone mentions the Vikings, the first thing that comes to their mind is last year’s NFL MVP nearly breaking the record for most rushing yards in a season.

However, when a team is struggling, rumors tend to fly.  Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press asked Adrian Peterson about his likelihood to be playing for another team in the near future:

Why this question was even asked is more confusing.  Peterson is currently under contract by the Vikings until 2017.  His current deal is a 7 year, $96 million deal with $36 million of that guaranteed.  That creates a big problem when trying to trade him, if that is something that Minnesota ever even considers.

All in all, don’t believe anything to do with shipping Adrian Peterson out of Minnesota.  He should be a fixture of the team for many, many years to come.  He will remain the face of the franchise and will provide fans with many, many more great years with the Vikings.

With Toby Gerhart most likely leaving for greener pastures after this year, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman will be searching once again for a backup to the best running back in the NFL.  It would be ludicrous to think of the team getting rid of both of those guys and starting over from scratch from that position.
