Remember when mock drafts used to just be for the offseason? Yeah well those days are long-gone. Mock drafting has now become a year-round thing. Nothing takes a frustrated fan’s mind off their team’s loser ways more than pining for some college kid they saw play a quarter of football once on the television.

As we know, the Vikings have been screwing themselves in draft position for several weeks with all this winning and tying. Thanks to victories over Washington and Chicago and a draw in Green Bay, the Vikings are now picking sixth overall. How will they ever get a stud quarterback picking #6???

Um well the latest FanSided.com mock draft has the Vikings picking a stud QB #6 overall. It’s Marcus Mariota of Oregon. Per the draft experts at FanSided:

"When you have Christian Ponder, Matt Cassel and Josh Freeman as your options under center, you would have to be thrilled to have a player like Mariota fall into your laps.Mariota is an exciting dual-threat quarterback that allows the team to open up all options in their offensive game-plan, which means the Minnesota Vikings could finally have an offense that doesn’t rely solely on Adrian Peterson.Of course, Mariota is only a redshirt sophomore which means he could return to Oregon for at least one more season. If that is the case, then Oregon could look in the direction of Fresno State signal-caller Derek Carr — a player that continues to rise up draft boards."

Not Johnny Manziel or Derek Carr? Tune in next week to see if Mariota’s perceived “draft stock” has fallen far enough for him to drop behind Johnny Football and Derek Pigskin.

As always, keep in mind that mock drafts are for entertainment purposes only. In no way should any mock draft be taken as authoritative journalism or even valid speculation. Especially not the December ones.
