One of my personal favorite choices to become the Vikings next franchise quarterback has decided to stay in school for another year. University of Oregon’s Marcus Mariota has made the tough decision to relinquish his rights to enter the 2014 NFL draft in order to continue his education and play another year of college football.
Mariota has shown himself to be a good decision maker. Over the course of two seasons of NCAA football, he has thrown a total of 62 touchdowns with only 10 interceptions. Add to that 6,089 passing yards, 1,334 rushing yards, and 14 rushing touchdowns.
This decision makes Louisville Cardinals quarterback Teddy Bridgewater the top quarterback on nearly every big board. Despite this decision by Mariota and the likelihood that Bridgewater will be taken with either the #1 or #2 overall pick in this year’s draft, there is plenty of depth coming out for the Vikings to be able to hopefully find their franchise quarterback.
