Needing a Running Back, the Vikings Work Out Bradley Randle

Adrian Peterson will likely not play this weekend, and Toby Gerhart is anything but a certainty after hurting his hamstring. That leaves the Vikings with just Matt Asiata as a true running back. Unless they want to use Jerome Felton as a running back, they’re going to need to bring someone in.

That could open the door for the return of a popular guy from this year’s training camp. Reportedly, the Vikings will bring in Bradley Randle on Tuesday for a workout.

UDFA Randle turned a lot of heads very early in the process this offseason, but ultimately was unable to secure a roster spot. The Vikings kept Randle’s number though. Now they might need him.

Randle, for those who don’t remember, is a little feisty fire-plug of a running back out of UNLV. He showed plenty of physicality in camp and some receiving skills to boot. The Vikes now will get a second chance to look at him. Maybe they’ll like him enough the second time to give him some carries.

Adrian and Toby’s misfortune could open the door for young Mr. Randle. I’d rather see him take the hits at this point than have Adrian absorb more meaningless punishment. No offense.
