The Vikings have been impressed with the play of their rookie cornerback, Xavier Rhodes. Unfortunately, his physical style of play has led to him suffering a couple minor injuries throughout the season. However, the injury he sustained against the Baltimore Ravens seems to be a bit more than minor.
Reports have come in that it is a high-ankle sprain, but so far, the only confirmation is that it is indeed a sprained ankle. Since Minnesota only has three games remaining on their schedule, it is possible that the Vikings could move Rhodes to Injured Reserve in order to get some more help at the team’s shallow cornerback position.
The Vikings have to be encouraged by the play of Rhodes. He is the only regular Vikings cornerback to be graded positively by Pro Football Focus and should be a cornerstone of Minnesota’s defense for many years to come.
