You knew a practice squad addition was coming after the Vikings cut Spencer Nealy. Wednesday the Vikings made the anticipated move, signing RB Bradley Randle to the PS.

Former UNLV star Randle is signed a day after working out for Minnesota. The Vikings had Randle in training camp and for awhile he made a push for a roster spot but the Vikes ultimately went with Matt Asiata instead. Randle spent a little time on the practice squad in September before being let go.

The aforementioned Matt Asiata is currently the only semi-healthy running back on the Vikings active roster. Adrian Peterson is still in a walking boot as we wait for further word on his mid-foot sprain, and Toby Gerhart is limping around with a hamstring.

Jordan Todman would be a nice guy to have right now but oops they cut him and now he’s in mix with the resurgent Jaguars.

The Vikings I imagine are just waiting for word on Gerhart’s health before deciding what to do next. If Gerhart can’t go, look for Randle to be signed off the practice squad and suited up for Sunday.

Randle is a small guy with some speed and toughness and a well-rounded game. It would not be a surprise to see him get his first NFL carry this weekend against the Eagles.
