Good news came today for Joe Banyard. The running back was promoted from the Minnesota Vikings practice squad to the active roster.
This move was made because of injuries to both Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart. Those injuries really hurt the depth of the team at the position. With both Peterson and listed as questionable for the game against the Eagles, the team wanted to ensure that they’d have adequate players.
Although Banyard hasn’t had any regular season NFL carries in his career, he has shown some promise and potential in his carries during preseason. This is his opportunity to impress the Vikings coaching staff. With Gerhart possibly leaving the team as a free agent, there may be an opening for Banyard in a regular role with the team opening up.
