The Minnesota Vikings are struggling for depth at cornerback.  It got so bad, they had to start former Bengals and Eagles free agent Shaun Prater this week against Philadelphia.

“I was ready for that. New guy. Cut twice. I was ready,” Prater said. “If you had a camera on me this entire week, I spent so much time watching film, stretching, watching more film and just asking the coaches about everything, being a little gnat. It’s like a pit bull locked in a cage and he’s waiting and waiting and he’s finally let out and he’s finally give that ball. I was given that ball today.”

Being a former member of the Eagles, he had some idea of what to expect from the guys he was tasked with covering on Sunday.

“Just basically getting a feel for what type of guys they are,” Prater said. “Doing one-on-ones with them every single week, it just clicked.”

Despite not registering a tackle in Sunday’s game, Prater was able to help out the Vikings with an interception and a defended pass.  Look for him to have a bigger role with this team this season.
