Rick Spielman has a little more work left to do in his head coach search. The GM and his merry band of coach hunters will reportedly meet with 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Saturday, wrapping up the first round of head coach interviews.

The second round of interviews will reportedly happen some time in the coming week. Three finalists for the job will be flown to Minnesota to meet with Spielman and Zygi Wilf one last time. And then after these second round interviews, a coach will be chosen.

Spielman has said he wants that decision to be made within the next week.

Mike Zimmer and Todd Bowles are believed to have locked down two of the three finalist slots. Roman is in a small group of men in the running for that final slot. That small group may or may not include Ray Horton, Darrell Bevell and Dan Quinn.

For some reason Spielman is staying mum about who actually has been interviewed, so we only have media reports to go by. The possibility exists that some coach has been interviewed in secret and this guy is in the mix and we don’t even know it.

You never can tell with Spielman. He’s pretty crafty.
