There are new rules that have been passed by the NFL owners in regards to the teams featured on HBO’s series “Hard Knocks”. The NFL can now FORCE a team to participate in the series if no other team volunteers as long as they don’t fall into any of these three categories:
- The team has hired a new head coach.
- The team has made the playoffs in the past two years.
- The team has appeared on “Hard Knocks” in the last 10 years.
The Vikings meet the criteria for point one and two. New head coach Mike Zimmer took part in last year’s Hard Knocks as a part of the Cincinnati Bengals. Also, the Vikings were a part of the playoffs in 2011 as a wild card team.
According to Deadspin, these teams could be forced into being on “Hard Knocks” this year:
- Chicago Bears
- Buffalo Bills
- Arizona Cardinals
- New York Giants
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- Oakland Raiders
- St. Louis Rams
- Pittsburgh Steelers
Whether it features the Vikings or not, “Hard Knocks” is an excellent program that gives insight into what happens behind closed doors in the NFL. It is a highly recommended series to watch.
