The Vikings are in no particular hurry to announce their coaching staff hires, but everyone knows anyway so it doesn’t really matter. The latest non-announced hire came via the most roundabout means imaginable. Thanks to a pair of Senior Bowl quarterbacks, we now know that Scott Turner, son of Norv, has been hired as Vikings QB coach.
Master Tesfatsion uncovered the news while speaking to North squad QBs Tajh Boyd and Logan Thomas, both of whom said they spoke with Turner Monday night. Turner was WR coach in Cleveland under his father last year and will now coach QBs in Minnesota.
Unofficially, the Vikings now have a new OC, QB coach and DC. We’re still waiting to find out, officially or otherwise, the names of any other Mike Zimmer staff members.
In-house candidates believed to be under consideration include Jeff Davidson and Mike Priefer. Mike Singletary has revealed that he will not be back. DB coach Joe Woods has also indicated that he doesn’t expect to return to Minnesota.
Scott Turner takes over for Craig Johnson, who spent three years as QB coach under Leslie Frazier and Bill Musgrave.
