The Offensive Rookie of the Year has been named, and Vikings fans won’t be happy. Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy took home the award at Saturday night’s NFL Honors program.
Although Minnesota’s Cordarelle Patterson was an excellent offensive player through the second half of the season, Lacy put together a much more impressive rookie season in its entirety. Patterson’s late start can be attributed to the coaching staff taking their time to ease him into the offense. Meanwhile, Patterson lit things up on special teams, which are not considered when voting for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Congratulations to Lacy on an excellent win. It feels odd congratulating a Packers player on a Vikings page, but he deserves the award and should be an important part of the Green Bay offense for many years to come. On the other hand, Vikings fans can rest assured that Cordarrelle Patterson will continue to grow and develop into an explosive and dynamic weapon in the near future.
