2014 NFL Mock Draft: Vikings Select Quarterback Blake Bortles

The first post-Super Bowl mock draft is up at FanSided.com, and the pick for the Vikings is…

Blake Bortles, QB, UCF

The scouts like Bortles’ size and pocket movement, and he has a good arm. Two terms you see thrown around a lot are “poor man’s Andrew Luck” and “rich man’s Jake Locker.”

Hopefully Bortles is closer to Luck than Locker.

Looking at Bortles as a fit in Norv Turner’s vertical offense? He seems like he would be a good choice. He’s not a scrambler like Johnny Manziel and he’s maybe not as polished as Teddy Bridgewater. But the potential is clearly there for him to be a very good NFL QB.

There will be some pretty good defensive players available at 8, but you have to look at Bortles if he’s there at 8, right? Given the problems this team has had finding a franchise QB. You can’t pass on a Bortles.

Or can you?
