Vikings free agent defensive tackle Fred Evans will be paying close attention to the Winter Olympics in Sochi, and not because of the figure skating.

Fred has a personal reason for tuning in to the Sochi games: his sister Aja is competing as a brakeman with the USA bobsled team.

Aja was a track athlete at the University of Illinois, but a couple years ago she turned her eyes to bobsledding, which not surprisingly is a sport that favors people with a sprinting background.

Evans quickly demonstrated her massive bobsledding talent, scoring a 794 out of 800 at the 2012 combine test and breaking the start record with driver Jamie Greubel at team selection races.

I’m not sure what all that stuff about combines and selection races means exactly, but I know do know this: Aja Evans is the brakeman for the USA bobsled team at the Olympics, and that means she’s darn good.

She’s better at bobsledding than her brother Fred is at football. And Fred is pretty good at football. When he’s concentrating and not jumping offsides.

Did I mention Aja was also once featured as a VIBE Vixen of the Day?

She also has the same name as a Steely Dan record.
