NFL Salary Cap Expected To Rise

News was released today that the projected salary cap for the 2014 NFL season would rise.

Although 5% doesn’t sound like a big difference, it would raise to cap to approximately $130 million.  This was confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter in a tweet on Thursday morning.

NFL’s salary cap now projected to rise to about $130 million, up 5 percent from $123 million last year, per league sources. More $ for all.

According to Spotrac, this would place the Vikings approximately $32 million under the salary cap and allow them to pursue several big name targets in free agency.

32 plus the 2 they will save after cutting Carlson. That puts the Vikings at 34 million to work with. I see them being very active in FA considering the past 4 years they haven’t had more than 8 million to work with. I am very optimistic about what Zimmer (who will have alot of input on who they sign as well Turner) will bring in here and build what he likes on the defensive side of the ball. I say go after Alteraun Verner as top priority then make offers to DE Michael Johnson, S Nate Allen, MLB Brandon Spikes and G Jon Asamoah
