Saints Release RB Darren Sproles

Surprisingly, the Saints have released dynamic running back and return man Darren Sproles.  It saves the cap-strapped team 3.5 million against the salary cap.  This news came from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport from Twitter.

This is news because the Vikings are most likely looking for a pass catching back to give Adrian Peterson a break on occasion.  Sproles would be a logical man for the job since he has previous experience with current Minnesota offensive coordintor Norv Turner during their days in San Diego.

A team may be willing to pay more for Sproles than the Vikings since they could likely utilize his ability as a return man.   Minnesota has those positions on lockdown with both Cordarrelle Patterson and Marcus Sherels handling those duties.

It is still a situation to watch as it develops.

Do not sign Darren Sproles. 1. He is too old for what we are trying to accomplish. 2. He is too expensive for a situational player. 3. We dont need him in any way…
