Add another name to the long list of free agent defensive tackles that the Vikings are trying to recruit to come to Minnesota. This time, according to Darren Wolfson on Twitter, it’s former Raiders DT Vance Walker.
Walker may not be a household name, but he’s an effective run stuffing body that could be valuable in the Vikings system. Walker was drafted in the 7th round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He played there until last season, when he went to “The Black Hole” in Oakland.
Here are his statistics over 5 NFL seasons:
73 games played
- 119 combined tackles
- 8 sacks
- 2 forced fumbles
- 1 fumble recovery
- 2 passes defended
- 13 “stuffs”
Walker stands 6’2″ and weighs 305 pounds. He could be an inexpensive addition to the Vikings team this offseason.
