Are you ready for the sight of Jared Allen in a Chicago Bears uniform?

Three years ago this would’ve seemed like a bad dream (or an unfortunate drunken experience at a Halloween party). But now it could become reality.

Adam Schefter reports that Jared Allen will meet with the Chicago Bears as he continues his search for a new home.

Allen seemed headed for Denver, until the Cowboys cut DeMarcus Ware and the Broncos decided to go after him instead.

With the Broncos out of the picture, Allen is now looking at his other options. Chicago and Seattle are believed to be those options.

The Green Bay Packers were mentioned early Tuesday but the Packers seem an unlikely landing spot for Allen for a multitude of reasons.

The Bears seem like a better fit for the 4-3 defensive end. Chicago has moved on from Julius Peppers and are seeking a pass rusher.

Allen’s willingness to make visits with teams like Seattle and Chicago could signal that, despite his stubborn statements to the contrary, he will take less money and/or accept a rotational role in order to stick around.

How low will Allen go in his asking price? Not low enough to bring him back to Minnesota. That ship sailed. And the Vikings are happy to let it sail after inking rising star Everson Griffen to a long-term deal.
