It has been reported today that Vikings safety Jamarca Sanford has agreed to a restructured contract.
Last year, Sanford signed a two year deal worth $5 million. The team and Jamarca agreed to a deal that lowered his base salary by $750,000 but increased his guaranteed money by $400,000.
It may not seem like much, but it frees up a bit more cap room for the team and assures Sanford that a large portion of his contract won’t go unclaimed due to injury or release.
Sanford is still in contention to be one of Minnesota’s starting safeties this year. He should be competing with several other players for the job in camp this year.
