Brian Billick Is Out As Fox Football Announcer

Brian Billick will no longer be driving us nuts with his name-butchering on Fox football telecasts, reports The Big Lead.

Sources tell Big Lead that, after a six year relationship, Fox has decided not to renew Billick’s contract.

The writing was probably on the wall for Billick after he and broadcast partner Thom Brennaman were passed up in the Fox pecking order by Kevin Burkhardt and John Lynch. Even though Lynch is flat-out terrible.

Bad as Lynch is, Billick wasn’t a whole lot better. And the fact that people constantly made fun of him over his tendency to mess up names – who the hell is Jerald Allen????? – probably didn’t help his case.

There is no word yet on who will be taking Billick’s spot alongside Thom Brennaman, but I can suggest a candidate right now. Fox needs to get on the horn with this guy.

Fox, get Brett Favre in that booth. Now.

Favre as an announcer would be epic. I bet he gets all the names right too.

I honestly think Favre should be a QB coach not an announcer…he needs to share all of his amazing wisdom with the next generation of QB’s

Always liked Billick’s analysis. Heck, our moms never get our names right. What’s the big deal?
