The Vikings will continue their evaluation of quarterbacks entering the 2014 NFL Draft on Thursday night, as they are going to have dinner with Johnny Manziel, according to NFL.com
Manziel with dine with head coach Mike Zimmer, offensive coordinator Norv Turner and general manager Rick Speilman tonight, and then meet with him again tomorrow.
Manziel held his pro day on the Texas A&M campus today, and all indications are that he performed fairly well. Manziel’s workout was unique in that he actually wore pads while throwing for team officials and media, which legendary personnel man Gil Brandt said he had never seen before.
Mike Zimmer has previously stated that his biggest concern with Manziel would be what type of leader he would be, and Zimmer will likely try to answer his questions in the team’s meetings with Manziel. Zimmer spent a lot of time talking to Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin at the pro day, according to NFL.com’s Chase Goodbread, meaning Zimmer was probably trying to glean some answers about Manziel from his former coach.
Come May 8, we may find out if Zimmer liked what he heard
